When placing a ceramic grill on any surface, it is important to provide airflow beneath the grill base. Ceramic is a natural insulator, allowing it to hold and retain large amounts of heat without sustaining damage. However, because of this, ceramic grills will gradually heat up over longer cooking sessions and that heat can radiate down to the base of the grill. By using these ceramic feet, you can raise the grill above your counter/table to provide a buffer of air that allows heat to be moved away from the grill and table.

This keeps your table and counter safe from being scorched or warping. But it also means that the grill won't be subject to inconsistent temperature changes at it's base, which can cause the ceramic to heat and cool unevenly.
