How to Find Your Mower's Model Number

Finding Model / Serial Numbers
To make sure you receive the proper parts for your mower, whether it is a walk behind mower, riding mower, or zero turn mower, it's important that you have the correct model number. Each mower will use different parts and sometimes there are changes to the parts based on the year and serial number of your mower.
The location of the model information is different on every piece of equipment. It’s important to note that some pieces of equipment may have multiple model numbers listed, especially if they have an engine. Stickers on the engine typically refer to the engine model and serial number, while the actual model of the mower is typically on the equipment somewhere else.
Walk behind mowers will usually have a sticker along the base of the mower (the cutting deck). For example, cub cadet units should have a sticker on the rear of the mower for easy access.
As another example, Troy-Bilt walk behind mowers have the model number on the left side.

For riding mowers, the best place to look for the model number is underneath the seat or on the mower deck. Again, this number/sticker can be in a number of places. Look around the seat on the mower deck if you don’t find the number underneath the seat.

Many zero turns put the model number near the control levers, under the seat, or by the fuel tank (check between the gas tank and the mower deck). These can be sometimes be hard to find, so you may need to be thorough.

Finding the Right Parts
The best way to ensure you get the right parts for your mower is to start by identifying the make and model of it. Once you have that, it becomes much easier to find parts manuals and source the correct replacements.
